Description

Master's studies include physics studies both in the field of one's own orientation and outside it. In addition to the content, the studies strengthen the methodological knowledge of physics and expand the general knowledge of physics, according to one's own choices. The studies include language and communication studies as well as optional minor subjects, depending on the orientation. In addition to the thesis, the second half of the studies provides oppostunities to reflect on physicists' skill sets and employment opportunities. 

Learning outcomes

A student with a master's degree in physics is familiar with the basic theories of nuclear physics, particle physics, or solid-state physics. The student has a thorough knowledge of the topics, methods, and research questions within one's area of specialization. The student also knows their responsibility to work ethically and responsibly, and their duty to participate in building a sustainable future. In addition, the student

  • is familiar with key measurement techniques in one's specialization field and understands their basis.

  • can apply numerical mathematics and modeling to solve problems in one's field.

  • is able to critically evaluate and apply knowledge and research methods

  • thinks analytically, models natural phenomena, applies theories in practice, and solves problems with different methods

  • is able to solve problems by applying numerical mathematics and modeling

  • is able to work as an expert and developer in one's field of specialization
