Master's Degree Programme in Technology for Safety and Risk Management
Description
Learning outcomes
The learning goals of the Master's Program in Technology for Safety and Risk Management emphasize knowledge of the operational environment and the application of natural sciences based on safety.
Natural sciences as the foundation of technology and safety: A graduate knows phenomena in physics, chemistry, and biology on a broad scale, from the nucleus of an atom to planetary scale, and from femtoseconds to thousands of years in duration. They are able to model challenging problems related to phenomena and solve them using creative and analytical thinking mathematically, computationally, and experimentally. By modeling phenomena, they can develop technologies to improve radiation, chemical, and biological safety, as well as safety related generally to technology. They are able to analyze, apply, and anticipate risks and impacts related to complex and rapidly developing technologies.
Work life skills: A graduate knows how to advance safety projects, act in crisis situations in a controlled manner, and guide the organization and society towards safety and sustainability goals ethically and responsibly. They are familiar with safety and risk management practices and understand the operational environment related to technological safety. They can communicate clearly and motivationally on safety topics. They have good collaboration and interaction skills as well as project management expertise.
Career and further study readiness: A graduate can work as a technological safety expert, leader, and developer in companies, research institutes, governmental organizations, and international cooperation projects. They have excellent prerequisites for education leading to a doctoral degree in safety technology, for deepening their safety expertise, and for continuous learning.
