Course description
This course will equip you with more detailed knowledge about French-speaking communities and improve your French language skills.
Main contents of the course
The content includes describing and reporting on one’s environment and things, such as leisure activities.
Structures covered include temporal narrative (e.g. present tense, future tense, passé composé) and referring to things (e.g. possessive and demonstrative pronouns).
Learning outcomes
On the completion of the course, the student is expected to
- understand slow and clear speech in French if the topic is familiar;
- be able to draw a general idea from a simple text in French;
- deal with everyday social situations in French, both orally and in writing;
- be able to express in French general information about their environment, themselves, and their opinions;
- be aware that it is possible to draw on other languages that they know to improve their learning;
- understand how to develop French learning skills.
Additional information
The course is optional for all university students. It is part of the Programme de langues, cultures et sociétés françaises.
Description of prerequisites
Completion of French 1 or 1-2 courses of French at lower levels of education.
