Digital services have become ubiquitous in our daily lives. What’s more, globally services count for ca. 70% of national gross product. The economist have characterised this as the rise of the service economy. This impacts how we work and what skills we need. Digitalization of the society has further emphasized the need of understanding how firms and organizations organize their service business and how value creation changes when dealing with digital services. One of the fundamental challenges is that the value is co-created together with the service provider and the customer. This thematic module focuses on how to design and manage digital services and how digital platforms and new technologies impact, and enable, service innovation. Furthermore, the thematic module will address how to apply different digital service design methods for development projects, and how digital transformation, i.e. digitalization of services, impact service provision and deployment in firms and organizations.
