This course focuses on hands-on teaching practice and supporting language learning in an actual classroom (in an existing Japanese course).

Description

This course develops the skills needed to support learners of Japanese as a foreign language.

Core Contents

  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating a Japanese language and/or culture–related course together with and under the guidance of the teacher.
  • Planning may include, for example, preparing learning materials: short texts, audio recordings, assignments, and selecting suitable existing materials.
  • Implementation may include, for example, attending lessons and assisting in them according to the teacher’s instructions.
  • Evaluation may include, for example, checking exams and providing feedback to students. Initially, the student may observe the teaching group’s activities. Later, the student may design and carry out individual curriculum-based learning activities.
  • Finally, the student evaluates their activities and the effectiveness of the learning activities based on their observations and experiences.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student

  • has become familiar with a student group and learns to guide and support Japanese language learning in an appropriate way.
