This course provides a comprehensive overview of athlete health, injury prevention, exercise risks, and ethical issues in sports.

- Sports injuries – special features of injuries in young athletes
- First aid for sports injuries: replacing the 3K model with PEACE & LOVE
- Specific features of asthma in athletes
- REDs (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport), energy availability in sports
- Overtraining syndrome
- Prevention of sports injuries
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- Describe symptoms that may indicate serious health risks during strenuous exercise
- Guide a previously inactive person in preparing for demanding physical activity such as a marathon
- Know who should undergo an athlete’s health examination and when
- Identify the specific features of asthma in athletes
- Describe the causes, recognition, and treatment of REDs and overtraining syndrome
- Explain how to safely engage in physical activity during and after infections
- Describe special health considerations for female athletes
- Describe health-related issues specific to growing athletes
- Apply the updated first aid principles for sports injuries
- Describe the most common sports injuries and the basics of their diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation
- Prevent sports injuries and promote healthy training days
- Explain the basics and principles of anti-doping work
