The Gender Studies Seminar teaches critical perspectives on the diverse impacts of gender and sexuality in the academic disciplines and society at large.

Description

The course is a seminar with a focus on discussions in class and individual work, including searching for relevant literature and the writing of a course essay on a topic of one’s own choice. The course is particularly fitting to students who want to discuss gender-related topics in their BA or MA theses, but it is also suitable for a general introduction to critical perspectives on gender.

Learning outcomes

By taking the course the student:

· Is able to identify the impacts of gender in society, history, and the arts.

· Learns how to conceptualize and theorize gender in different academic fields such as the social sciences, the humanities, pedagogy, and psychology.

· Trains their academic reading and writing skills with a special focus on gender related research questions.
