Esports as a field of management, leadership, and business - what to consider when building responsible organisations and sustainable businesses within esports.

Description

Concept of esports; history, present and future of esports; esports leadership, organisation, and teams; economic and business perspective to esports; competition, career, well-being, and responsibility in esports.

This course supports the UN Sustainable Development Goal 8 Decent work and economic growth. Also, issues related to SDG 5 Gender Equality and SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production are discussed.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • recognize esports as a field of management and leadership
  • understand the economic and business significance of esports
  • understand management, leadership and organisations in the context of esports
  • identify career, well-being, and responsibility perspectives in esports
