PSYS2100 Master's Thesis (30 cr)
Tweet text
Description
The course introduces the different phases of research, project and research group work, scientific writing, and discussion. The master's thesis is written by no more than two people and is done during one academic year in connection with the department's research topics and most often as part of the department's research projects and/or research group. The thesis is written in the form of an article, which includes an introduction (theoretical/empirical background and research questions), method description, results section, discussion and references. The thesis is checked with Turnitin or a similar plagiarism detection program before it is sent for evaluation.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student can form an in-depth picture of the subject of the master's thesis by searching for scientific publications dealing with the subject, which he/she familiarizes him/herself with and whose content (theories, frameworks, results) he critically evaluates and compares in a meaningful way in terms of the focus of his/her thesis. The student masters the different stages of doing research and knows how to participate in project work, knows how to write a scientific report in the form of an article, and can define and delimit research problems in a justified way. The student knows how to use the guidance he/she receives to carry out independent research work, knows how to choose the right research methods and apply them in a justified way, and is able to draw essential conclusions based on the results.
