This course is offered through the Network for Climate University. These studies are available for bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree students studying in the University of Jyväskylä.
Description
Climate change is a topic that divides opinions. Thus, it is important to pay attention how climate change and related research are communicated. In this course student learns to understand the different forms of climate communication, factors affecting it, the challenges and keys to impactful communication about climate change.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- understand what are the different forms of climate change communication.
- identify and discuss things that make climate communication a) important, b) challenging
- understand what affects the recipients and messengers of climate change information
- critically analyse climate change messages.

This course is implemented together with the University of Helsinki: Implementations in Finnish are organized by the University of Oulu and implementations in English by the University of Helsinki.
