MUSS2002 Music & Computing 2 (5 cr)
Description
This course introduces theories and methodologies in designing and using musical interfaces within research and applied contexts. Design approaches such as mapping techniques are surveyed and evaluated. Students gain practical experience in designing, prototyping and reporting on their own musical interfaces. The course also focuses on the use of musical interfaces within music education and music therapy.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course student
is able to name and explain the key concepts and theories when designing musical interfaces
can critically evaluate research literature related to musical interfaces
is able to apply the theoretical, practical foundations and methods in the development of his / her own research projects
understands the principles and design practices related novel musical interface design
