Description

Doctoral student will complete their dissertation within the target time of 3-4 years.

The dissertation research should demonstrate the student's familiarity with their own discipline as well as their own field of research.

The research should demonstrate the ability to apply scientific research methods independently and critically.

The dissertation must be a coherent, publishable, scientific presentation of a problem in the discipline and must be defended in public.

The format of the dissertation must comply with the dissertation requirements of the University of Jyväskylä.   

Learning outcomes

After completing the doctoral dissertation, the doctoral student will be able to apply scientific research methods independently and critically, while respecting the ethical principles of research, and to generate new scientific knowledge.

The doctoral student will be familiar with their discipline and field of research and will be able to evaluate scientific research in the field and its relevance.

The doctoral student shall be able to prepare scientific publications and reports and to present research results in accordance with scientific practice. The doctoral student will be able to defend their work in public.
