Description

Luonnontieteen kandidaatin tutkinnon matematiikan kokonaisuuteen sisältyvä lyhyt kirjallinen opinnäyte ja niihin liittyvä seminaari. Tutkielmien aiheet perustuvat aineopintokurssien pohjalle ja niitä ohjaavat yliopistonlehtorit, yliopistonopettajat, tutkijatohtorit ja professorit. Tutkielmaa tehtäessä tavoitteena on perehtyä vieraskielisen lähdekirjallisuuden käyttöön ja kirjalliseen esitykseen. Tutkielman aiheesta laaditaan lyhyt esitelmä, joka esitetään tutkielmaseminaarissa.

Opintojakso suoritetaan kirjoittamalla tutkielma ja osallistumalla seminaariin.

Learning outcomes

The course introduces students to independent knowledge acquisition and mathematical writing. After completing the course, the student
  • is trained to seek information from a variety of sources, including foreign language literature
  • is familiar with the referring practices and ethical principles of using references
  • has developed his / her skills to work independently in mathematics and to master wide areas of theories
  • is able to produce fluent mathematical text.
  • is able to prepare and implement a relatively short mathematical presentation of his / her thesis
  • has the ability to comment and evaluate others' presentations.

Description:
Tutkielmia ohjaavat yliopistonlehtorit, yliopistonopettajat, tutkijatohtorit ja professorit. Ota yhteyttä kandidaatintutkielmien ohjausta koordinoivaan opettajaan, kun haluat aloittaa tutkielman tekemisen.
Evaluation criteria:
The Bachelor's Thesis will be graded on the scale of Pass / Fail. For a successful completion, the Bachelor's Thesis must be a self-contained, clear and coherent presentation at the mathematical subject level. In addition, the student must pass a seminar.
