Description

During the course, students examine culture as a theoretical concept and its position, use and importance in people’s everyday lives and social activities, as well as communities as a unifying and a differentiating factor. In addition, students reflect on the importance of culture in shaping the relationship between past and present. 

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student will:

  • understand the diversity of culture as an academic, political and guiding concept

  • understand the differences and commonalities in concepts of culture

  • be able to critically examine cultural phenomena and their significance and

  • have an idea of how cultural concepts are used in research within the framework of the degree programme and in related disciplines.

Taught course. Independent work on written assignments is possible in special cases.

Completion methods

Method 1

Description:
Taught course.
Evaluation criteria:
The grading scale in all completion modes will be numerical: 0-5. The grade will be based on the evaluation of the assignments that measure the extent to which the learning goals have been achieved. In courses organized in the form of contact teaching, completion requires 80% attendance. For independent learning, completion of the unit requires that written assignments are completed and approved by the instructor in charge.
