Learning outcomes

After the course, the student will understand:
• the history, aims, achievements and challenges of the research field of molecular magnetism
• the basic principles of the quantum-mechanical origin of magnetic properties at molecular level
• what the basic macroscopic magnetic quantities (magnetic field, magnetization and magnetic susceptibility) describe
• how the microscopic molecular properties give rise to the macroscopic magnetic properties
• how molecular magnetic properties depend on the chemical structure of molecules
