KEMS903 Thesis Seminar (1 cr)
Description
The student attends the seminar presentations of others in two seminars during his or her first master's year or at least before the start of the thesis. The student does the assignment for each presentation he or she listens to.
Example questions that the student answers:
- What was the purpose of the study?
- What were the objectives of the study and were they achieved?
- Were there any challenges / problems during the study and how were they addressed?
The student discusses his / her seminar presentation with the supervisor before the presentation.
At the seminar, the student will give an oral presentation of approximately 10 minutes on the subject of his Master's thesis (in Finnish or in English). The supervisor of the thesis (or a person authorized by him / her) listens to the student's presentation and gives feedback orally / in writing.

After completing the course, the student

- is able to construct an oral and written presentation of the thesis.

- is able to discuss research in his / her field, taking into account the level of the listener.

Additional information
It's highly recommended to start listen other student's seminar presentations already at the beginning of master's studies.
