KATO0018 Structural Equation Modeling 1 (3–4 cr)
Cooperation network course
Network: National doctoral courses
Available for: Doctoral studies
This course is offered through the Network for Doctoral Studies. These studies are available for doctoral degree students studying in the University of Jyväskylä.
Grading scale:
Pass - fail
Description
Lectures (4 h) and workshops (10 h). During the course, students are expected to complete the exercises provided by the teachers and write a research report.
Learning outcomes
In this course, participants will get acquainted with what Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is, how it can be used as an analytic tool in research, and how data for Structural Equation Modeling can be prepared, analysed, and reported. Some typical SEM-analyses will be covered, like path modeling, confirmatory factor analysis, mediation and moderation analysis and group comparisons. The doctoral researchers will perform SEM-analyses by working with exemplary or with the participants’ own data sets. Softwares Mplus and SPSS will be used in the workshops.
Additional information
This couse will be orgnised in autumn 2024, 2025 and 2026.
All doctoral researchers interested in statistical analyses and/or collecting or planning to collect data suitable for SEM analysis. Basic statistical skills are required. Maximum of 12 doctoral researchers of the Faculty of Education and 8 doctoral researchers from other faculties or national network for doctoral courses (see https://www.doctoralcourses.fi/).
