424519.0 Refrigeration (5 cr)
Cooperation network course
Network: FITech Energy studies for Master’s students
Available for: Doctoral studies, Master's students and Bachelor's and Master's students
This course is offered through the Network for Fitech Energy 2. These studies are available for master's and doctoral degree students studying in the Faculty of Mathematics and Science and the Faculty of Information Technology.
Description
Topics of the course are:
vapour-compression, absorption and expansion processes for refrigeration, refrigerant media, process equipment characteristics, food refrigeration, air conditioning, liquefaction of gases, refrigeration technology for natural gas (LNG) and hydrogen, new concept such as heat pumps, heat pipes, cooling using solar energy, passive cooling etc.
Learning outcomes
To obtain and apply the theoretical background of refrigeration engineering, incl.equipment lay-out in the field and developments and new trends.
The student will extend his basic knowledge of thermodynamics and process equipment to the field of temperatures below that of the surroundings, down to the region of liquid hydrogen. Also air conditioning is addressed.
