Description

Basic phenomena related to combustion processes, Fuel properties, Combustion of gaseous, liquid and solid fuels, Ash-related problems in combustion systems, Formation of combustion aerosols and emissions, Emission control technologies, Industrial carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS).

Learning outcomes

Learning outcomes: After completing the course the student - Understands physical and chemical phenomena of combustion processes - Is familiar with key properties of various fuels - Is able to calculate and assess emission factors based on fuel compositions and measurement data - Is familiar with detailed characteristics of combustion emissions - Understands the operation principles of combustion technologies and emission control technologies in several different applications The study unit develops the following generic skills/generic competences: sustainability and responsibility, critical thinking, identification and development of expertise, interaction and communication.
