Focus is on the significance of culture and society on health. The course covers issues such as how health, illness and suffering are perceived; why certain health behaviors are being practiced in a given community; what kind of traditional features can be seen in health care across different parts of the world; and how the concept of integrative medicine has emerged. Culture becomes an eye-glass through which a medical anthropologist sees these phenomena in a society.\r\n\r\nThrough the subject of medical anthropology a bilateral connection develops between general public and the scientific community.
