The online course provides students with basic skills in analyzing the business environment and its evolution from an economic perspective. Proactive identification of both opportunities in the business environment and threats to the business environment is increasingly important for successful businesses in the global economy.
The online course introduces students, for example, to the decision-making process of both consumer and firm in different market structures, economic growth and business cycles.
The course supports the following UN Sustainable Development Goals:
Liiketoimintaympäristön taloustiede osana liiketoimintaosaamisen opintokokonaisuutta antaa laaja-alaiset perusvalmiudet tarkastella yrityksen liiketoimintaympäristöä ja siinä tapahtuvia muutoksia. Menestyksekkään liiketoimintaosaamisen näkökulmasta yrityksen toimintaympäristön mahdollisuuksien ja uhkien ennakoiva tunnistaminen on globalisoituvassa taloudessa yhä keskeisemmässä roolissa.
Opintojaksolla tutustutaan mm. kuluttajan ja yrityksen päätöksentekoon, markkinoiden toimintaan, talouskasvuun sekä suhdannevaihteluihin.

Transfer of student information
LITO courses are organised in co-operation with multiple universities. To receive credits for the courses, students must be granted the right to attend the courses for which they have registered from the host university. To grant the right to attend a course (or courses), the home university will transfer personal student information to the host university responsible for organising the course. The data to be transferred includes the student’s surname, first name, possible middle name(s), gender, mother tongue, nationality, e-mail address, personal identification number and home university. If a student does not have a Finnish personal identification number, his/her student ID (oid) will be transferred. Data classified as secret will not be transferred. Receiving credit for the course(s) is not possible without transferring personal student information.

Opiskelijatietojen siirtäminen
LITO-opintokokonaisuudessa opintojaksot järjestetään yliopistojen välisenä yhteistyönä. Opiskelijalle myönnetään kurssi-ilmoittautumisen perusteella erillisopinto-oikeus opetusta järjestävään yliopistoon ko. opintojaksolle.
Ilmoittautuessaan LITO-opintojakson toteutukselle opiskelijan opinto-oikeutta varten tarvittavat tiedot siirretään opetuksesta vastaavaan yliopistoon. Opinto-oikeuden perustamiseksi siirretään opiskelijan oman yliopiston rekisteristä opintojakson opetusta järjestävän yliopiston rekisteriin seuraavat tiedot: sukunimi, etunimet, sukupuoli, sähköpostiosoite, äidinkieli, kansalaisuus, henkilötunnus ja oma yliopisto. Jos opiskelijalla ei ole suomalaista henkilötunnusta, siirretään tieto kansallisesta oppijanumerosta (oid). Salaiseksi luokiteltua tietoa ei siirretä omasta yliopistosta. Tietoja käytetään myös opintosuoritusten siirtämiseen opetusta järjestävän yliopiston järjestelmästä opiskelijan oman yliopiston rekisteriin. Ilman tietojen siirtoa merkintää opintosuorituksesta ei ole mahdollista saada.
