Doctoral Programme in Humanities and Social Sciences
Description
Doctoral studies in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences stress the ability to conduct research independently, the ability to complete and report an extensive research project, and the ability to present and defend the research in a public examination. Doctoral education prepares the doctoral student to be an expert in the chosen field and provides the doctoral student with analytic thinking, problem-solving, communication and information technology skills.
In the Doctoral Programme in Humanities and Social Sciences, the specialisation can be one of the following:
1) History, Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology (degree aim PhD)
2) Language Studies and Communication Studies (degree aim PhD)
3) Music, Arts, and Culture Studies (degree aim PhD)
4) Social Sciences and Philosophy (degree aim PhD or DSocSc)
Specialisation is selected at the application stage.
The doctoral degree includes doctoral studies completed according to the curricula of the doctoral programme and a doctoral dissertation.
