Description
The course focuses on our relationship with the environment, and in particular on our personal relationship with the natural environment. During the course, we reflect on the human–nature relationship and the culturally significant relationship with forests in the Nordic context. You familiarize yourself with nature areas around Jyväskylä and learn about the Finnish relationship with nature as well as everyone's rights to roam. Additionally, this course may help you to plan your own weekly trips to local nature.
We study nature by being and moving within it. The course includes a national park excursion and shorter meetings in local nature paths.
Learning outcomes
After the course:
• You are acquainted with Finnish nature environments in Jyväskylä area
• You have explored your own and the group’s shared relationship with nature
• You have discovered mindful ways to be in nature and connect with natural world
• You have learnt from Finnish nature and everyone’s rights to roam
• You have had an experience of a full day excursion in a Finnish national park
