Course description

The aim is to practice everyday situations and skills and make use of affordances offered by the Finnish environment in language learning.

Main contents of the course

  • routine everyday situations
  • the role of the environment in language learning
  • language learning and compensation strategies in the early stages of language learning 

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student is expected to

  • be able to pick out main points and manage routine everyday situations
  • be able to briefly discuss their interests and plans
  • be able to search for and select relevant information from written everyday texts
  • be able, with support, to draw on affordances offered by the environment and of compensation strategis to support language learning and to overcome the limits of their language skills
  • regognize their own learning strategies and multilingual resources
