Description

Course Description

This course is integrated into the work placement period, during which students observe, practice, and reflect—with guidance—on informal workplace interaction situations as well as language use in their own professional field.

Core Content

  • observing the use of Finnish in informal situations at the placement site and as a workplace language

  • practicing the use of Finnish in informal situations at the placement site

  • reflecting on one’s own language learning and actions in the interaction situations at the placement site 

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student:

  • manages routine and predictable informal workplace situations, such as small talk

  • is able, with guidance, to observe the work placement environment to support language learning and strengthen domain-specific language use

  • has the confidence to participate in recurring informal interaction situations at the workplace

  • knows the recurring communication practices and conventions of their own placement site
