Intensive course during the summer period

Description

Course Description

In this course, students practice especially informal interaction situations related to work placements and learn to make use of their surroundings as well as everyday situations in their own lives to support language learning. Attention is paid to interaction within a multilingual and multicultural group.

Core Content

  • routine interaction situations, especially during work placements

  • working in a multilingual and multicultural group

  • talking about oneself and one’s skills, and asking others about theirs

  • language learning strategies 

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student:

  • can briefly talk about their interests and future plans

  • is aware of how to act in routine and predictable informal workplace situations, e.g. in a break room

  • can make use of recurring workplace situations to support language learning

  • has gained strategies for participating in interaction situations in Finnish

  • knows the key features and practices of Finnish working life 

Additional information

Some exercises are carried out jointly with native Finnish speakers and completed as part of project work.
