XSUI1000 Get to know Finnish (3 cr)

Course Description

In this course, students practice routine everyday situations and skills, and prepare to take advantage of the languagelearning opportunities provided by a Finnishlanguage environment. At the same time, they become familiar with Jyväskylä and the University of Jyväskylä as their future living and study environment.

After completing the course, the student

• can search for and select relevant simple information from short written texts

• can identify main points and keywords and respond in routine, familiar situations, and knows how to act in recurring everyday and service encounters in their own life

• can introduce themselves and briefly talk about their areas of interest

• knows the key aspects related to living and studying in Jyväskylä and at the University of Jyväskylä (environment), as well as within their own study programme

• is aware of their own learning strategies and multilingual resources
