TUTS9491 Contemporary Topics in Safety Research (1 cr)

• Participation in research seminars related to safety technology and broader safety research
• Examination of the societal and technical significance of research
• Identification of multidisciplinary approaches in safety research
• Practices of scientific discussion and argumentation
• Reflection on one’s own expertise in relation to the research themes presented 

After completing the course, the student is able to:

• analyse and summarise the key aims, methods, and conclusions of research presentations
• evaluate the significance of presented research findings from the perspective of safety technology
• position their own expertise in relation to multidisciplinary safety research
• contribute appropriately and constructively to scientific discussion 

The course consists of research seminars related to safety technology and, more broadly, multidisciplinary safety research, organised within the department, the faculty, or partner networks.

The aim of the course is to familiarise students with multidisciplinary approaches in safety research and to develop their ability to participate in scientific discussion. Students follow research presentations, analyse their content, and reflect on their own expertise in relation to the themes presented.

The course may be completed over several academic years.
