This course develops the ability of Master’s students in safety technology to work responsibly in a technical laboratory environment.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student is able to:

  • analyse hazards related to laboratory operations and their interdependencies in a technical context
  • prepare and evaluate a safety plan, taking into account responsibilities, control measures and operational objectives
  • apply risk identification and assessment methods to experimental work
  • prioritise safety considerations in situations involving risks to people, equipment or operational continuity
  • act responsibly and systematically in laboratory situations and evaluate their own actions from a safety perspective
  • report safety‑related observations, analyses, and conclusions justifiably and in a technically sound manner 

Description of prerequisites

Mastery of the various areas of safety expertise (risk analysis, legislation, compliance, safety management, human factors).

Completion methods

Method 1

Description:
From spring 2028 onwards. The course is completed through participation in contact teaching.
Evaluation criteria:
The assessment criteria may include practical exercises, written assignments, project work, and exams. The assessment targets and their weightings will be specified in connection with the implementation.
