Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student

  • understands how physical, chemical, and biological phenomena relate to safety and technological solutions
  • is able to evaluate safety considerations, risks, and opportunities associated with different technologies throughout their entire lifecycle
  • is able to examine technology as part of society and anticipate its potential impacts
  • can communicate safety-related aspects of technology clearly and understandably
  • can work effectively in a small group and produce analysis that combines scientific reasoning with the perspective of technological safety

Completion methods

Method 1

Description:
Starting from autumn 2027. The course is completed by attending teaching. The course includes lectures and exercises.
Evaluation criteria:
The assessment criteria may include practical exercises, written assignments, project work, and exams. The assessment targets and their weightings will be specified in connection with the implementation.

Method 2

Description:
Starting from autumn 2027. An alternative completion method is available for students who, for specific reasons, cannot complete the regular mode of study (e.g., language of instruction, living elsewhere, recommendation for individual study arrangements). Students must contact the teacher before registering if they need an alternative method.
Evaluation criteria:
The assessment criteria may include practical exercises, written assignments, project work, and exams. The assessment targets and their weightings will be specified in connection with the implementation.
