Description

1. Pathophysiology of common cardiovascular and metabolic diseases and mechanisms by which physical activity can affect them. 2. Role of physical training in the prevention of the above mentioned diseases.. 3. Acute and chronic effects of physical activity in persons with the above mentioned diseases. 4. Evidence-based guidelines on physical activity in the prevention and treatment of the above mentioned diseases. 5. Exercise counselling of persons with the above mentioned diseases. 6. Possible adverse effects of physical activity and their prevention in persons with the above mentioned diseases.

Learning outcomes

Learning outcomes: After completing the course, the student - can explain the general pathophysiological features of common cardiovascular and metabolic diseases and how physical activity can intervene in these processes - can identify the effects of physical activity in the prevention of the above mentioned diseases - can evaluate the acute and chronic effects of physical activity in persons with the above mentioned diseases - can identify evidence-based guidelines on physical activity in the treatment and prevention of the above mentioned diseases - can apply guidelines on physical activity when giving exercise counselling to persons with the above mentioned diseases - can identify possible adverse effects of physical activity and how to prevent them in persons with the above mentioned diseases.
