TILS6920 Practical training (5 cr)

During the practical training, the student becomes familiar with the application of statistics and data science in working life. The training can be completed not only in a company but also, for example, in the public sector or in an association. However, the company cannot be the same as in the course TILS6910 Company internship.

The practical training must be agreed upon in advance with the responsible teacher. A written report of 2–3 pages describing the tasks performed during the training period must be prepared.

One month of work in field-related tasks corresponds to five ECTS credits. A maximum of 5 ECTS credits from the training can be included in advanced studies; any credits exceeding this amount will count as other studies.

A student who has completed the practical training:

• can apply knowledge and skills in statistics to solve practical and/or scientific problems

• can work as a member of a team

• can operate in a new computational environment

• is familiar with workplace practices
