Description

The course familiarizes students with the practical application of statistical and data science methods in a modern business environment. It provides an overall view of the kinds of data science solutions implemented in working life, the tools used in the process, and the various roles data science professionals have within organizations.

The course examines how data science creates value in business and prepares students to meet the skill requirements of working life. A practical, group-based project is carried out during the course, linked to a real business assignment or scenario.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student:

  • understands key application areas of data science and statistical methods and their role in business decision-making

  • is familiar with the typical roles and responsibilities of data scientists in corporate organizations

  • recognizes the key data science tools and technologies used in business

  • can apply data science methods to solve a practical business problem as part of a course project

  • is able to present data science results to both technical and business audiences

  • is able to identify and evaluate their own skills in relation to current labor market requirements

intermediate studies in statistics, basic knowledge of business, and a bachelor’s thesis
