LPEM0002 Debates in physical education (3 cr)
Description
The course is delivered in a blended format consisting of two virtual sessions and a one-week onsite international program.
The first virtual session prepares students for the international experience.
The one-week onsite program provides practical and experiential learning through participation in diverse physical education and sport activities, exposure to different sport cultures, and engagement with inclusive practices.
The final virtual session focuses on reflection and integration of learning, linking onsite experiences to theoretical concepts discussed in the course.

Teaching and learning activities emphasize active participation, collaborative learning, and experiential approaches. Small-group work includes the preparation and presentation of group outcomes, supporting communication skills, critical thinking, and peer learning.
Assessment criteria
To pass the course, students must demonstrate active participation in all sessions and successfully complete and submit the required group work.

On successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Critically discuss key debates related to inclusion in physical education, including cultural similarities and differences in movement and sport practices.
- Explain and evaluate the concept of physical literacy and its relevance to physical education and the sport sector.
- Apply principles of physical literacy to the planning and implementation of physical education and sport activities.
- Demonstrate intercultural awareness through participation in and reflection on practical sessions representing different sport cultures.
