Description

The aim of this course is to introduce the various philosophical issues related to games, play and game studies. The course covers classical philosophical issues like definitions, the nature of art and simulation, and how they relate to games.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this course the student will be able to

● identify connections between philosophical issues and games

● understand philosophical issues relevant to game studies

● critically discuss suggested solutions to theoretical issues in game studies

Evaluation criteria:
Passing the course requires completion of all required assignments in line with stated learning outcomes. An 80% attendance requirement is applied. Grade-specific assessment criteria are introduced in the course.
