Description

The aim of this course is to introduce the various structures and elements which games may use to convey meanings relevant to players and the surrounding culture. Also the strategies used by players to interpret games are discussed.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this course the student will be able to

  • understand the different ways how games are reflecting cultural values and discourses, and what kind of cultural practices and communities are created around games and play
  • are able to analyse different cultural practices around games
