Intersectional approaches to society and culture. Empirical research on gender, sexuality, and racialization in Finland and beyond.

Learning outcomes

After completing the study unit, the student will be able to - understand the importance of analyzing gender, sexuality and racialization in social and cultural settings - reflect on social and cultural issues in Finland from the above mentioned perspectives - understand intersectional and post- or decolonial feminist approaches - read and discuss gender studies research - present individual and/or group work in different formats Generic competences: digitalization, leadership and development, internationality, sustainability and responsibility, interaction and communication, identification and development of expertise, critical thinking

Offering data: The study unit is available for all degree students and University of Eastern Finland exchange students. It is compulsory in the Basic Studies in Gender Studies study module. The course is available for students in the National Network for Gender Studies Hilma as cross-institutional studies (RIPA).
