This course is offered through the Network for FYSNET. These studies are available for bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree students studying in the Faculty of Mathematics and Science and the Faculty of Information Technology.
Description
A more detailed basic astronomy course (part one), that contains e.g. the fundamentals of electromagnetic radiation, astronomical instruments, celestial mechanics and the physical environment of the planets.
Learning outcomes
Student can describe the basic physical processes behind astronomical phenomena and can solve mathematical problems related to the course.

Timing: 2nd study year Spring, Period 3
Target group:
First or second year students in e.g. astronomy, physics, geophysics or geology. Also for the other students of the University of Oulu and other universities.
