Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the pathophysiology of musculoskeletal, pulmonary, cancer, mental health, and neurological conditions and their relationship with physical activity
  • Evaluate the effects of exercise on individuals with these conditions
  • Know the basics of neuromuscular training for back pain and osteoarthritis
  • Prevent osteoporosis, sarcopenia, functional decline, and falls in older adults
  • Apply evidence-based exercise recommendations for prevention and treatment
  • Prescribe and program exercise individually for affected populations
  • Recognize and prevent potential adverse effects of exercise in these populations
  • Can critically examine the latest research in the field and assess its reliability.

Description:
Lectures 18 hours (distance learning option) and seminars 12 hours (attendance required). Preparation and presentation of seminar work with a student partner, independent study, joint examination of lectures and literature.
