Description

The module provides foundational knowledge on the principles and mechanisms of promoting well-being through art, especially in the context of music therapy.

Module deals with the dimensions of well-being in art, specifically in the context of the first course (Art and Well-being: MUTS 1101), extending beyond music to encompass other art forms as well. In the case of music, its well-being dimensions are explored more broadly in the first course, not limited solely to music therapy. The second course (Perspectives to Music Therapy: MUTA 2001) and the third course (Approaches and Methods in Music Therapy: MUTY 2003) are directly related to music therapy. MUTA2001 covers foundations of music therapy from the perspectives of education, methods, theory, and research, taking on a predominantly lecture-based format. MUTY2003 includes, in addition to theory, various workshops where students have the opportunity to practically experience different methods and techniques typically applied in music therapy clinical practice. Among the module’s courses, MUTS1101 is taught in English, while courses MUTA2001 and MUTY2003 are exclusively taught in Finnish.
