Description
The advanced level studies of the LAGIC program cover language and communication related questions such as multilingualism, discourse and power, media, mobility and migration, as well as the cultural implications of the ongoing changes in how people from differing cultural backgrounds interact with each other. The studies include a possibility to specialize into applied language studies and intercultural communication via optional courses. The studies include a strong methodological component, as well as studies related to working life competencies.
Learning outcomes
After completing the advanced studies in Language, Globalization and Intercultural Communication the student
- has a deep understanding of concepts, methods, and theories related to applied language studies, intercultural communication, and globalization in society
- can find, assess, and utilize academic knowledge and apply scientific methods to problem-solving in an ethically sound manner
- has a critical understanding of how language and communication operate in various social contexts
- has developed a nuanced understanding of different cultural perspective
- is able to analyze communication between people from different ethnic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds in local and global settings
- is able to contribute to the development and operation of multicultural and multilingual teams, organizations, and societies
