APEPED Pedagogical Intermediate Studies in Adult Education (35 cr)

Pedagogical Studies For Adult Educators refer to teacher’s pedagogical studies as stipulated in Section 19 of the Government Decree on University Degrees (794/2004) which are focused on adult education and result in formal teacher qualification in regards to pedagogical studies. They can be taken as separate studies after the completion of a master’s degree or included in the master’s degree. Pedagogical studies in adult education (60 ECTS credits) consist of basic studies in education or adult education (25 ECTS credits) and pedagogical intermediate studies in adult education (35 ECTS credits). Any student applying for pedagogical studies for adult educators must have completed the basic studies in education and adult education (25 ECTS credits), or corresponding studies detailed in the call for applications, and the intermediate studies in his/her main subject.

The objective of the studies is an autonomous adult educator who is able to operate in today’s rapidly changing world of uncertainty, in a variety of interpersonal situations. The human conceptual presumption is that adulthood includes the possibility of being relatively autonomous. An autonomous adult educator is conscious of one’s action, is able to justify and change one’s action in a deliberate and flexible way. An autonomous adult educator is not an individual who uncritically adapts to the changing value trends of society and education.

The objectives are pursued through three principles: subjectivity, investigative attitude and dialogue.

The study module is only for students selected for Pedagogical Studies for Adult Educators. Application time for studies is in the spring.
