Description
This study module examines the role, function, and influence of public relations in a global environment. During this course, students will learn why and how organizations are affected by publics and stakeholders from multiple cultures and with great diversity within nations and how organizations affect publics and stakeholders with their activities. Students will gain an understanding of global trends and how they impact public relations activities, and knowledge on national media structures, public policy, and international legal and ethical codes in public relations.
The study module introduces the students to several UN Sustainable Development Goals, such as Goals 3 Good health and wellbeing, 8 Decent work and economic growth, 10 Reduced inequalities, 12 Sustainable consumption and production, and 13 Climate action and discuss them as important global issues challenging global public relations activities.
Learning outcomes
After completing this study module, the student:
is familiar with main theories and theoretical perspectives of global public relations
is able to reflect critically on the main factors affecting global public relations
is able to identify and scope opportunities for global and cross-border public relations
has trained to understand diversity and cultural issues
is able to produce a written academic report in English
has improved their cross-cultural awareness
