The course is optional and is part of the optional language and communication studies. Both the Finnish and international / exchange students are welcome.

- Basic phrases and greetings
- Talking about oneself and the others - simple dialogues
- Living, studying, orientation in space
- Shopping, visiting places and eating in a restaurant
- Numerals 1-100
Grammatical structures taught on the course
- Verb classes
- Word order and forming questions
- Nouns, adjectives, pronouns
- Nominative singular and plural
- Accusative singular and plural
Learning outcomes
On the completion of the course, the student is expected to
- be able to communicate in easy, everyday situations, both verbally and in writing in Slovak
- be able to talk about themselves and their family in Slovak
- understand the basic structures of the Slovak language
- understand the main contents of simple and clear texts in Slovak
- be familiar with the Slovak cultures and different values, attitudes, and norms related to them
