XKI0008 Chinese 4 (4 cr)

Course description

This is the second part of the intermediate course package to further enhance students’ ability to discuss and write in Chinese about diverse topics. This course aims at students with an intermediate level in Chinese. It deepens students’ prior knowledge of Chinese and focuses on written communication and reading comprehension. Students will learn to apply their knowledge of modern Chinese and use vocabulary at HSK 3 level with more confidence. During the course, students will discuss and write practical texts based on more complicated topics. They will also have the opportunity to translate simple Chinese texts and write texts of practical use.

• More vocabulary, phrases, or structures
• Written communication and reading comprehension
• Conversation practices in pairs/groups
• Chinese intermediate grammars
• HSK level 4 exercises are practiced

On the completion of the course, the student is expected to

• be able to discuss a wide range of topics in Chinese
• have developed their confidence in writing and reading Chinese
• be able to participate appropriately in everyday interactions in Chinese
• have a command of a variety of Chinese sentence structures

• Both Finnish and international students are welcome.
• Students at this level can take the language proficiency test and obtain the language certificate (HSK level 3 ).
• The teacher will speak Chinese as much as possible in the classroom, and English is used only when needed.

XKI0007 Chinese 3 or an equivalent level.
