Course description

In this interactive course, learners will expand their basic language skills while continuing to explore Dutch and Belgian culture.

Main content

  • Themes: the weather, food and drinks, transportation, love, at the doctor’s
  • Talking about the future
  • Giving your opinion
  • Grammar: prepositions, verbs of position, adjectives and pronouns

Learning outcomes

On the completion of the course, the student is expected to

  • be able to participate in basic everyday conversations in Dutch by using basic phrases and vocabulary
  • be able to understand simple and clear texts concerning familiar subjects in Dutch
  • be able to utilize their multilingual language repertoire to further develop their language skills
  • has familiarized themselves with various customs and cultures within the Netherlands and Belgium

Additional information

Language of instruction: Dutch, English and Finnish. 

Both Finnish and exchange students are welcome. Finnish languages skills are not needed.

Description of prerequisites

This course is for students who successfully finished Hollanti 1 or who have taken a beginner's Dutch course outside University of Jyväskylä.
