Course description
In this interactive beginner’s course, learners will develop basic language skills while also exploring Dutch and Belgian university culture.
Main content
- Greetings and politeness
- Introducing yourself
- Talking about your studies, hobbies and family
- Numbers, dates and telling time
- The alphabet, basic spelling and pronunciation
- Grammar: the present tense, the imperative, articles, singular and plural
Learning outcomes
On the completion of the course, the student is expected to
- be able to tell about themselves in simple sentences in Dutch
- understand the main points from short texts and conversations concerning familiar themes in Dutch
- be able to participate in everyday discussions in Dutch
- become aware of various customs and cultures within the Netherlands and Belgium
Additional information
Language of instruction: Dutch, English and Finnish.
Exchange students are
welcome to the course and knowing Finnish is not necessary.
