Course description:
This is an intensive preparatory course run in August intended to prepare exchange students for studying their major through English at the University of Jyväskylä. We will activate and improve listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English at an upper-intermediate to advanced level. We will also draw on multicultural experiences to build a common understanding of effective communication skills. Typical tasks include writing formal and academic texts and critically presenting and discussing field-specific topics with peers from various disciplines.

Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student is expected to be able to
communicate and interact effectively in a variety of academic contexts, both written and spoken

work effectively in groups to build on the contributions of others
give and receive constructive feedback
access and apply relevant tools and competencies for their own academic study needs

Target group: this course is for students who are on exchange at JYU
Language level: This course is aimed at students with a minimum CEFR level of B2. We cannot guarantee that students will achieve this level upon completion of the course.
