Course description

The course is primarily targeted for Master's degree students, especially in the English-taught programmes, who wish to develop their scientific writing skills and academic conventions at the start of their studies.

Key themes include:
  • information search, evaluation and management of sources
  • critical thinking in academic reading and writing,
  • scientific writing conventions and academic integrity,
  • scientific writing as a process, constructive feedback and critical reflection 

Learning outcomes

On completion of this course, the student is expected to

  • Recognize and produce structured texts according to field specific conventions and academic registers 
  • Find, evaluate and synthesise relevant primary and secondary sources throughout the writing process
  • Understand the requirements and principles of academic integrity
  • Use feedback to further enhance their academic writing
