Dive into additional practical research methods with our online course.

Description

The course consists of 1-2 additional Research Methods Modules (3 credits per module)—qualitative, quantitative, design science, and literature review—allowing students to select the modules they need.

The qualitative module delves into practices such as interviewing and thematic analysis.

The quantitative module focuses on the analysis of numerical data and statistics.

Design science is dedicated to developing IT artifacts or practices, and the literature review module explores theoretical and conceptual dimensions.

This course offers a practical perspective on applying research analysis methods to empirical data or practical situations. Delivered online, it includes lectures and other learning materials that focus on these different approaches

Suoritustavat:

The course is conducted online (no physical attendance), requiring students to pass quizzes and complete various small assignments, as well as submit a sample analysis of selected research data. This data may be part of the same dataset used in their Master's thesis.

Arviointiperusteet:

The analysis assignment will be evaluated based on the depth of analysis, its effectiveness in enhancing understanding of the data, and the integration of theoretical elements. This module is graded on a scale of 1-5.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students will understand the methods of the selected module(s), be able to assess them critically, and apply them in practice. They will acquire sufficient skills and knowledge to conduct analyses for their Master's thesis effectively.
